hat do you expect from this edition of ICE?

ICE Totally Gaming show has always been an important opportunity for us to connect with our international customers, and we have strong indication that this year’s show in particular will be one of the largest ever to date.

It’s bigger in terms of the number of people attending, the significance of current industry issues, and the creative entertainment impact of showcase products like Konami’s new Frogger themed slots and Concerto video slot cabinet.

So we expect to meet with a leading international gaming industry presence and provide them with ample opportunity to experience the very latest slot games available.

What products will you be showcasing?

ICE 2016 is setting the stage for a broad lineup of international releases, ranging from the latest Konami games to exciting new expansions on proven products. This year Konami is debuting its new Concerto video slot cabinet to ICE attendees for the first time, with original game themes such as Chili Chili Fire and Dragon’s Law Twin Fever.

Concerto is reaching more casinos across the globe each week and includes unique features such as edge-to-edge 27-inch HD monitors, a 19.5-inch digital topper, and signature holographic side lighting. Guests at ICE will have the chance to experience new KP3+ platform games, available exclusively on Concerto, as well as compatible KP3 platform games.

The world’s first Dungeons & Dragons video slots will also make their ICE premiere. They are based upon the iconic fantasy-themed role-playing game and display very well on our tall-top Podium Monument cabinet with custom bezel, sign, and other merchandising options unique to the popular D&D brand. Our all-new Frogger slots are also debuting at ICE on the Monument cabinet. This classic arcade game is leaping into the casino gaming world, complete with the road and river crossing course that generations have enjoyed.

What will be the key trends in the gambling arena in 2016?

For gaming operators and manufacturers alike, our industry is actively exploring next-generation gambling experiences to satisfy gambling preferences of future casino players. Of course, we can’t abandon today’s core slot players or stop advancing the game mechanics, technology, and entertainment they enjoy. So our challenge is to maintain a steady, thoughtful course of action in both areas simultaneously, and being attentive for potential crossover.

On a more immediate level, the video slot market is definitely trending toward bigger screens with premium entertainment value, which is why new releases such as Konami’s Concerto video upright have a lot to offer international casino properties. Players can enjoy an edge-to-edge cinematic slot experience entirely unique to land-based casinos, in a cabinet with standard footprint size to maximize property floor space.

Konami’s tall-top monument games such as Frogger and Dungeons & Dragons have similar appeal and additionally deploy a variety of exciting bonus events and progressive jackpot features across the extended top box.

Will start-ups and small companies be able to survive the wave of industry mega-mergers?

Without a doubt, business mergers demand change and carry a host of challenges but that doesn’t necessarily threaten the survival of smaller competitors. Start-ups and small to midsize businesses are nimble and agile.

They can oftentimes adapt and respond to changing needs faster and more radically. The gaming industry is a multifaceted economic sector and there are opportunities for a wealth of differing companies and organizations.

The gaming industry is going through deep changes. Why is it so important to come about with new legislation?

Our industry is undergoing historic change with the emergence of skill-based and iGaming gaming, and how we execute on technology and investment in these areas today will impact the coming years in a lot of ways.

Konami’s mission is to empower casinos with the gaming technology and content they need to reach their customers, which is why we’ve partnered with Spin Games to launch our own remote gaming service (RGS) for deployment across online social and for-wager environments.

In the area of skill-based gaming, our team is actively involved in advising on-going regulatory and legislative exploration, and we’re equipped to respond with remarkable new creative content to help empower this sector for success.

What are the firm's business goals both in the short and long term? Are millennials one of your target demographics?

One of Konami’s biggest initiatives is the launch of Concerto. It’s currently arriving at casinos across the globe and initial feedback is outstanding. The coming months are situated for continued momentum, and we have a strong pipeline of game themes currently navigating approvals and development. So throughout the year, we’ll be working diligently to deliver this product to market with the quality and performance our customers know they can expect from Konami.
