In december, Las Vegas Sands filed two separate complaints with a Nevada court accusing a number of Chinese domain owners of trademark infringement.

T

he casino and resort operator states that a number of domain names, including 3863.com, 20288.com, 4047.com and 4337.com, are used by their registrants to lure gamblers to online casino websites falsely pretending to be affiliated with Las Vegas Sands by featuring the company’s Sands trademark, Sunburst design and Jinsha characters or the company’s Venetian trademark and design mark.

All the domains alleged to be hosting trademark infringing websites are registered with GoDaddy, with many of them using the privacy protection service Domains by Proxy. The Las Vegas Sands asked the judge to order GoDaddy and/or domain registry Verisign to immediately remove or disable the domains’ name servers and place the disputed domains on hold and lock.

The American casino operator also asked the judge to serve subpoenas upon GoDaddy and Domains By Proxy to identify the owners of the domain names and obtain their contact information, including their physical and email addresses.

At least one of the disputed premium NNNN.com domains, 4047.com, didn’t infringe any trademark, but according to the complainant hosted a Chinese language directory with links to online casinos, including some of the casinos purporting to be associated with or sponsored by Las Vegas Sands.
