It follows the departure of current boss Manuel Joaquin das Neves who is stepping down at the end of November following decades of work for the government there.
Chan will take over the reigns of the Bureau on the December 1. He comes from a background in the public prosecutor’s office and his new role will be to improve the territory’s gaming regulations amid the worst slump in revenues in over a decade.
The new appointment came from Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Val Tac who spoke with reporters during a public event in Macau.
