Peru is getting ready to receive specialized regulators and lawmakers from all over the world. The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) is holding its 2015 Annual Conference on October 13 - 15 in Lima. For the first time, the IAGR conference will be a back-to-back conference with International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), which is taking place on October 14 – 16.

ldquo;I think this debut is going to be great on so many levels. Both the IMGL and the IAGR have decided to bring their conferences to our region and have chosen Lima as host city, this marks the first time these associations have worked together on this joint event, said Carlos Fonseca Sarmiento, associate and founder of Varela & Fonseca Abogados.

Alongside Jaime Varela Vidal and Ernest C. Matthews (ISI – Maritime/Islands) , Fonseca Sarmiento, who was selected by Chambers and Partners as one of the best lawyers in Gaming & Gambling, is the president of this IMGL's Autumn Conference.

“Why Peru? Over the past years, the Peruvian gambling sector has shown regulatory stability. At this year's conference we will be giving Manuel San Román Benavente, General Director of Casino Games and Slot Machines, the award for 'Latin American Regulator of the Year', ” Fonseca Sarmiento remarked.

“The MINCETUR has been properly regulating all issues related to this industry. They've done an incredible job to prevent both money laundering and problem gambling, and have issued regulations on Server Based Gaming. The growth of the Peruvian regulatory body has drawn the attention of the IAGR and IMGL. The South American country represents the first step to entering the entire region,” he noted.

Fonseca Sarmiento will be moderator of the panel "Overview of the state of gaming regulation in key Latin American jurisdictions", and will be joined by keynote speakers Manuel San Román Benavente, Alfredo G. Lazcano Sámano from Lazcano Sámano (Mexico) and Gonzalo Nahuel Masot from Masot & Frettes (Argentina). The panel will take place on October 15 from 9:45 to 10:45.

“In my presentation I will discuss the current situation of gambling in Latin America - legislation and innovation across the region, with a special focus on Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay," he concluded.
