acau’s Yoho Group, the company bringing Hollywood Roosevelt to Asia for the first time, confirmed the plans have been reconsidered and the project will go ahead without a casino.
Original plans outlined in 2013 included more than 53,000 sq ft of space reserved for gaming facilities however, with a shift in the market toward the mass market tourism, Yoho Group has decided to drop the casino altogether. The facility will instead focus on hospitality and use the Hollywood Roosevelt brand in Los Angeles as a differential way to entice guests.
GCP Hospitality, which manages several luxury and business properties across Asia Pacific, as well as The Hollywood Roosevelt that sits alongside the Hollywood Walk of Fame, will handle daily operations of the facility. The five-star property will have 373 suites and rooms and the opening date has been scheduled for the first half of next year.
Being developed on a 23,255 sqm parcel next to the Macau Jockey Club in Taipa, the US$ 350m hotel will be themed around Hollywood glam and the 1950. It is the second Hollywood Roosevelt after its Los Angeles counterpart opened almost 100 years ago.
Visitors to the 15 storey property will be able to enjoy scenic views of the sea or the Macau Jockey Club.
