The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, which owns and operates Fantasy Springs land casino in California, has rolled out a new mobile app and web-based program allowing players to practice playing online slots for free when they’re away from the casino.

Paul Ryan, general manager of Fantasy Springs, said the virtual slots are the same games which appear on the casino floor.

“We want to give our players access to their favorite casino content in as many formats and channels as possible,” Ryan said in a press release this week.

“A social casino platform on web and mobile devices customized for our brand is an easy way to deepen our relationship with current players, and send new offers to our loyal customers.”

Fantasy Springs’ advertising director Mandi Witkower said Cabazon’s newest online game, linked through the casino tab labeled, “Play 4 Fun,” is being run through Bally Technologies.

“Online gaming has not been legally passed in the state of California, so the only way to offer games like these is to set them up so you can play for free,” Witkower said, adding that if online gaming is legalized Fantasy Springs will be prepared to upgrade to real-money action.

The new online social casino includes a tab to play free poker, prompting industry observers to note that back in 2010 the tribe incorporated a free poker-play click tab on its Fantasy Springs Resort Casino site that was one-click away from the IGT-linked subscription VideoPoker.com website owned and operated by Action Gaming.
