Danish casino operator Spilnu.dk has announced an operating profit of £5.6m after publishing its financial results for 2014.

T

he introduction of a new fully-responsive website towards the end of the year not only improved the user experience but saw game sessions rise by 58 per cent.

Gross gaming revenues also rose by 54 per cent after the addition of four new slot games, Golden Pyramid, Sideshow, Sunny Farm, and Bank Walt, from its principle supplier Magnet Gaming.

The results follow the release of new data from Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s national gambling regulatory body, in March showing substantial growth in the online casino market over the last two years.

Gross gaming revenue generated within the market in 2014 amounted to just under DDK7.8 billion (€905.2 million/$960.6 million), up DDK7.5 billion at the end of 2012.

Mads Peter Veiby, Spilnu.dk chief executive and co-founder, said: “We’re delighted with the results and the performance of the site, which now boasts a host of great games and functionality.

“The decision to fully-optimise our offering and provide players with the best games for multiple devices is already paying dividends, with a rapidly-rising 25 per cent of sessions now on mobile.

“We have a compelling proposition for players in a rapidly-developing market and the great retention rates prove that people are enjoying the experience and coming back for more.”

Spilnu.dk is the sister company of innovative slots provider Magnet Gaming, with both companies 60 per cent owned by former state-run monopoly Danske Spil.

Magnet went live with an initial roll-out of eight slots, including the popular titles Diamond Express, Golden Pyramid, and Bank Walt, earlier this year and recently released a brand new game, Auction Day.

Their in-house design team is currently working on a further six titles which will be made available over the next 12 months.

The company soft launches its games in Denmark to verify performance metrics and optimise the player experience before releasing them in the international market.
