Yahoo has confirmed the launch of a new daily fantasy sports service that will allow players to compete for cash prizes.

Yahoo has confirmed the launch of a new daily fantasy sports service that will allow players to compete for cash prizes.

vailable to access now, ‘Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy’ will run one-day and one-week fantasy contests, while a salary cap will guide players during gameplay.

The platform features Daily Fantasy and Full Season Fantasy news as well as real-time sports news and scores as an all-in-one experience.

Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy is available to download now from Apple’s App store to play natively on iPhone and any device through a browser.

Yahoo in April unveiled plans to expand into the daily fantasy sports market in the US due to an increase in interest for such gaming activities.

In a statement, Yahoo said the launch makes it the “first major sports site and the only technology company of its scale to offer its own daily fantasy experience”.

Simon Khalaf, senior vice-president of product and engineering at Yahoo, added: “For more than 16 years, we’ve built the best fantasy experience for our fans.

“Our users spend nearly 30 billion minutes a year playing fantasy sports on Yahoo, and we’re thrilled to introduce a daily fantasy experience designed for the modern fan. The growing popularity of daily fantasy games is a fantastic opportunity for us to bolster our leadership by providing our millions of existing fantasy users as well new fans out there with a unique take on this game genre.”, he added.
