William Hill has closed its market on whether Greece will leave the Eurozone before 2016. 'The only option people want to back at the moment is that Grexit will happen this year and we can no longer hope to balance the market so we have decided to pull the plug' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills has been betting on Grexit for over a year, making it an odds-on chance that the country would avoid Grexit. When the market was closed Hills was offering 2/9 (bet £9 to win £2) that Greece would remain in the Eurozone until 2016, but had slashed the odds about Grexit happening this year from 5/1 down to 3/1 (bet £1 win £3).

GREECE is now 1/3 favourite with William Hill to be the first country to leave the European Union, with the UK 4/1 second favourite and Hungary 12/1 third favourite.
