hat were your expectations for the show?
The objective of our participation in PGS was to strengthen our business relations with Peruvian operators. We want to continue our strategy in the South American region, where there are a lot of opportunities and business development. Latin America, from a sports betting point of view, is at a moment in which the growth is finally tangible, not only for the retail business where Peru is one of the most important markets in South America and one of the best regulated, but for Betradar as a leading supplier and provider of sports betting data services. We were eager to meet Peruvian players and to explore this market.
Betradar already has clients in the country..
We have a few clients in Peru and this is one of the main reasons we decided to attend PGS. It's important that we're present, that we're here to listen to their demands. But most important is to continue to grow our business in the country, where regulation is helping both betting operators and suppliers to make clean businesses.
Our main clients are local operators and state lotteries. More and more local operators are starting to develop their business. Entrepreneurs are looking into coming into this business because it's an interesting, growing business. We're helping those to build up their business, to give them the right tools to do the right business.
Peruvian authorities are working on legislation to regulate online gaming. What aspects should authorities bear in mind when creating legislation? What should they improve?
Online opportunity will give the market a big push. Today, in the bookmakers' world, most revenue (60%) comes from both mobile and internet. What Peruvian authorities should do is to promulgate clear regulation. A regulation that guarantees the protection of every single actor of the industry, from operators to suppliers and players. New regulation should give operators the freedom to do business.
