Online gaming company Sky Betting and Gaming (Sky Bet) has appointed Paddy Power’s Adam Smith as its new head of corporate communications.

Smith, who currently serves as head of external affairs at Paddy Power, will exit the Irish bookmaker next month to take on his new role at Sky Bet.

Reporting to marketing director Rob Painter, Smith will assume responsibility for Sky Bet’s relationships with politicians, regulators and the media.

Smith will also work with Sky Bet chief executive officer Richard Flint and the company’s leadership team as part of his new role at the firm.

Prior to his time with Paddy Power, Smith spent 10 years working in politics, a spell that included a two-year stint as a special adviser to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Speaking about Smith’s appointment, Painter said: “As an independent company we are growing up quickly.

“The way our brand and corporate profile is perceived is an increasingly important factor in determining the success of the business.
“We’re therefore delighted that Adam is joining us to help develop both and I’m looking forward to welcoming him to the team.”
