Mejia sat down with Yogonet to share details of TransAct’s successful participation at FADJA 2015, underscoring the firm’s interest in investing in the region: “With the potential that new legislation in Colombia will lead casino operators to adopt on-line systems, we believe many casino operators will also take this opportunity to add TITO solutions.”

H

ow was TransAct’s experience at FADJA 2015?

FADJA is becoming a very important show for the Latin-American Gaming business and our attendance this year was quite valuable as we were able to show attendees our world-recognized and awarded Epic 950 ticket-printer, as well as EPICENTRAL, our market-leading software that increases play across the casino floor by delivering real-time bonuses and coupons to players.

Why is Colombia a significant market segment for your company? What are the pros and cons of expanding in an unregulated country?

With the potential that new legislation in Colombia will lead casino operators to adopt on-line systems, we believe many casino operators will also take this opportunity to add TITO solutions. TransAct’s Epic 950 ticket printer is used in TITO systems around the world, and is recognized for its unmatched performance and quality. We attended FADJA to make sure operators become familiar with TransAct’s Epic 950 printer.

What is the most significant opportunity that you’re seeing at the moment?

With the new legislation leading companies to implement on-line systems, we think many companies will also consider investing in TITO systems. This will open new opportunities for us to demonstrate that a ticket printer shouldn’t be seen as a cost, but as an investment, because TITO leads to increase play. At FADJA we were able to talk to a number of local on-line system companies about integration and product support. This is going to be a good business opportunity for us.

What is the main challenge the industry will have to overcome this year?

The gaming Industry in Colombia is evolving into a regulated market, which presents a challenge to local operators as they make changes to their business to comply with the new legislation, and also a challenge for the government to highlight all the advantages of a regulated market. Taking a global view, there have been a number of mergers among OEMs, and we expect the new, larger OEMs to focus on integrating these acquisitions during 2015.

What are your short-term business goals?

TransAct continues to focus on expanding its Epic 950 ticket printer business at casinos around the world, working hand-in-hand with Suzo-Happ, our global distributor. We have also seen increasing adoption of our real-time couponing system called EPICENTRAL, that is already being used by approximately a dozen casinos (USA, UK, Germany, Peru), on more than 10,000 slot machines, to print targeted, real-time promotional coupons right at the slot machine. More casinos are realizing that EPICENTRAL is one of the most effective marketing technologies available to them.
