n top of organizing PGS, you had the opportunity to visit other shows. Which are the main challenges that the gambling industry experienced in 2014?
Ours is a global scenario in which the main actors are companies that interact with the world through the economic dynamics, so in a certain way there is a direct dependence between one and and another, and it is inevitable that the economic crisis has had an impact on each company. So, when you talk to folks in this industry, they talk about the challenges they have to face in the location where they are currently operating. Many of them think that the global crisis hasn't not yet lifted and its effects is reflected in their earnings. However, on the other hand, the political action, regulations and revision of laws implemented in several countries has generated a certain instability in the sector. Yet having said this, optimism in the future is still the reigning mood in the gambling industry.
How has this been reflected in key regional events?
Expert media reports on the economic situations of the industry's markets of the industry, such as Las Vegas and Macau, which have registered dips and spikes in their gross earnings this year. However, events like G2E bring together the most important representatives of the sector and as well asf many operators, regulators and specialists, all of them seeking new solutions and state-of-the-art technology. SAGSE made a great effort to remain a key force and offer the best it could, although it suffered a decline in the number of exhibitors and visitors. However, we must consider that external factors weakened its capacity.
In your role as a PGS organizer, Whiat do you think sets the Peruvian gaming industry apart?
Peru has the unique characteristic of having formalized before other markets, and having clear rules for those who are willing to take risks in their investments, reinvest and operate a business in the gaming sector, make decisions simpler and quicker. That would be the main quality of the Peruvian market, and we also would add that, based on this characteristic, there is a conversion process for large- and medium-sized businesses with the aim to offer better customer service. These decisions are being imitated by smaller businesses which present opportunities for everyone.
What aspects should be focused on to boost business?
At PGS 2015 we will offer even more and improved services. For example, in Internet and security. We have planned to bring more facilities for the slot manufacturers who come to the show, and thus we have a strategic alliance with an experienced customs agency.
How has the profile of PGS exhibitors and manufacturers changed in recent years?
The competition makes many manufacturers and providers who participate in PGS display their best products, with customized solutions.
What are you preparing for the upcoming year?
As with every year, PGS works in a very dedicated and professional manner. We believe that the gaming industry is as a great family to whom we must offer our complete attention and best service. The traditional opening ceremony will have an innovative presentation, and conferences will be strengthened with experienced exhibitors. We have also planned a conference room for companies that want to give particular presentations. Those are some of the new items for PGS 2015, an event that, thanks to the excellent work of the whole AMG team (organizing company of the show) is consolidated as the most representative of the regional industry. This achievement is also the result of the trust that manufacturers, operators and everyone involved in the industry have put in PGS, which we appreciate enormously. We will be waiting for you June 10-11 at PGS 2015 in Lima, Peru.
