(Macau).- Under-21s make 20,000 attempts each month, on average, to gain entry to Macau’s casinos, Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau data show. The minimum age for admittance to casinos was raised to 21 a year ago.

Business Daily says the director of the University of Macau’s Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming, Davis Fong Ka Chio, cited the data on the sidelines of a conference on responsible gambling.

“Fortunately, they failed,” Mr Fong told the newspaper. “That means the law is effective, because it is protecting the under-21 age group,” he said. The minimum age for admittance to casinos was raised to 21 a year ago.
