Five casinos take in half of gaming revenues in Macau

(Macau).- Five of the biggest casinos in Macau took in 51 % of the city’s gross gaming revenues in the first quarter of this year. According to local newspaper Jornal Tribuna de Macau, Wynn, Galaxy Macau, Grand Lisboa, City of Dreams and MGM altogether reached combined gross gaming revenues of us$ 5.4 billion in the January-March period.

Wynn, operated by Wynn Macau, was on the top of the list with us$ 1.25 billion, followed by Galaxy Macau and Grand Lisboa in second and third place with us$ 1.13 billion and us$1.10 billion respectively. Galaxy Entertainment Group operates Galaxy Macau, while Grand Lisboa is run by SJM Holdings.

City of Dreams, operated by Melco Crown Entertainment and MGM, operated by MGM China Holdings, accumulated us$ 1.05 billion and  us$ 1.03 billion in gross gaming revenues, respectively. These five casinos represent only 14 % of the 35 casinos in Macau.

In sixth place on the ranking is The Venetian Macao, operated by Sands China, with us$ 940.8 million. StarWorld, operated by Galaxy Entertainment Group, followed with us$ 755.2 million, and Sands Cotai Central, also operated by Sands China, came in with us$ 577.3 billion.
