hat’s your opinion about ICE 2013? Was the new venue convenient for you?
This year’s ICE exhibition was a massive success for Merkur Gaming. For the entire three days, our stand was packed and visitors seemed really interested in our products, solutions, philosophy and concepts. All our expectations for ICE were met. We were particularly impressed by the venue itself, including the stand divisions and catering. Everything felt very modern. It was also great to see how busy the show was — clearly in part down to strong local infrastructure.

What was visitors’ response to the products you presented?
Naturally, we were thrilled by the positive response to our seasoned products but it was fantastic to see people so enthusiastic about our innovative new Jackpot systems. ‘Jackpot Rain’ was a real eye-catcher on its debut. The huge 55-inch monitor and exciting lighting effects produced a real casino feel on our booth. We also showed the new Merkur VLT Jackpot, specifically created for the Czech VLT market, and that proved captivating. Elsewhere, we received great feedback on our modified Privilege cabinet. It comes with a topper that has an integrated display, and the screen engages the player through its ability to promote games, play animations and run video clips. New LED light strips add to the overall effect, drawing in players, and they can also be tuned to match a game’s colour or a game library’s colour. Animated push buttons add a further helping of flair!

All this was topped off by shows featuring magician Paul Martin and acrobats Gabriela Schwab and Mareike Heenemann. The crowd seemed really enthusiastic! The combination of high-quality products, friendly and eager visitors, and great entertainment really made spending time at the Merkur Gaming stand a fantastic experience.

Where did most of your clients and visitors come from?
The majority of our customers were from Europe, but we found there were also plenty of people from other countries who were interested in our products.

What will be your shows calendar for the rest of the year?
As a member of the German-based Gauselmann Group, responsible for the development and international sales of AWPs, casino machines, and VLT and SBG solutions, Merkur Gaming will be present at important gaming exhibitions worldwide. These include FER-Interazar, Enada Primavera Rimini and Rome, Fadja, Indian Gaming Phoenix, G2E Macau and Las Vegas, SAGSE Panama and Buenos Aires and Peru Gaming Show.

What will be your next steps?
We’ve shown why Merkur Gaming’s ‘made in Germany’ solutions are in such demand worldwide. We’ll continue to work on tailor-made games for every type of player in Europe, with country-specific creations for the UK, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and Spain. Additionally, we’ll carry on designing games for particular continents, such as ‘Cantinflas’ for Latin America.

Alongside this, our focus on VLT and SBG gaming continues to grow, and we’ll keep building on our long-standing participation and experience within the industry. With a firm and ongoing emphasis on research and development, the Merkur Gaming team will also innovate on the company’s outstanding product portfolio, now and in the future.
