hat have you shown in this ICE show?
This year we are showing several products to the ICE visitors. First , is the BPS C4. The BPS C4 is a modular and scalable system that can easily be adapted to suit any substrate or process – from paper to polymer, from freshly printed to heavily soiled banknotes, even casino tickets. The BPS C4 can be configured with up to 20 output pockets of differing capacities. In a single run, the banknotes are counted, identified, and authenticated, as well as sorted according to denomination, series, orientation, and fitness for circulation; casino ticket are also sorted, and serial numbers are captured and reported to the Casino Management System.
We’ve also brought in the new advanced desktop system called the BPS C1, an extremely precise and flexible 1 +1 solution featuring a sorting tray and reject pocket , front facing controls to simplify operation and significantly reduce the footprint , while providing counting speeds up to 1500 notes per minute. The BPS C1s sensors verify the authenticity and denomination of the banknotes and will sort them based on the sort pattern selected. The unit also has the capability to read and image Casino tickets as well as read serial numbers on banknotes. The BPS C1 can process up to 10 different currencies and may be used by two operators, providing the needed flexibility that many casinos are looking for today. We couple this with our BPS Connect Casino software and it provides casinos with the reporting and connectivity necessary to meet their count room and cashier requirements. We are excited about showing these solutions to the people participating at the ICE show this year.
How was the feedback from visitors?
The first day was really good. Many visitors mentioned how unique it was to see a sorter (BPS C4) at the show; many of them did not realize there were such machines available and tailored to the Casino market. I also need to learn several more languages for this show …it is a very international show. We had visitors from Italy, Germany, Lebanon, Georgia and many other countries…
How important is the European market for the company?
G&D is based in Munich, so therefore the European casino market is very important to our company. We are beginning to concentrate more intently on the casino market within the European región and we recognize there is great potential for growth in Europe for G&D and our casino solutions. We’ve been very strong in casinos throughout North America , and we are leveraging this success here in Europe.
OK, so is it a division of the company?
Casinos is a market segment within our Banknote Processing División. G&D is a 160 years old company, and we are well known throughout the world for printing currency and our banknote processing within Central Banks. My job is to increase our presence and grow the casino market globally. This is one of the main reasons we are participating at ICE; to help grow our market presence within the European region.
What kind of advantages does the company offer with its products?
G&D brings a different approach to the market. We are the only company that can provide casinos with a total solution portfolio that will be tailored to the individual needs and requirements of the casino. We accomplish this by listening to what the casino is telling us and evaluate their processes and procedures and together we customize a solution that accomplishes their goals. We can do this because our product offerings have the built in modularity and scalability that allows us to provide a system that is customized to their casino; their size, volume of currency, their hours of operation and any connectivity, reporting or regulatory requirements. This gives G&D distinct advantage over all other offerings in the market today.
