his brings the patent dispute between the two makers of electronic table games for casinos, dating back to 2009, to a new chapter, Business Daily reports today.
Locally based LT Game Ltd claims that it has a Macau patent on key technology also contained in SHFL’s Rapid Baccarat electronic table game product. It said this patent made it illegal for SHFL to display or sell its Rapid product in Macau.
SHFL’s Macau subsidiary sought to appeal against a LT Game court injunction, but the Court of First Instance immediately turned down the right to appeal on a technicality.
The company then took its plight to the Court of Second Instance and in a judgment handed down last month – but only disclosed on Monday– the judges agreed to grant leave to appeal.
