(Macau).- Sands China is working on bringing more sports events to Macau, according to Sands chief executive Edward Tracy. The goal is to diversify the entertainment and tourism offering at the Asian gambling hub, he said.

“We are working on a lot of events, but we are very interested in more golf events, more NBA, more individual basketball clinics,” he said, quoted by state-owned newspaper China Daily. “We are in discussions with Scottie Pippen and [Kobe] Bryant and also Jeremy Lin. I can’t give you more. What you will find is that we are very connected with sports,” Tracy added.

Last weekend, Sands China’s Venetian Macao hosted the first mixed martial arts event in Greater China by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Earlier this year, the gaming operator was the main sponsor of the Macau Golf Open.
