Sapar Kar, Offsidegaming’s General Manager

“South America is still a largely untapped market in terms of igaming”

(UK, Exclusive Yogonet.com).- Sapar Kar, Offsidegaming’s General Manager, granted an interview to Yogonet.com, in which he talked about the evolution of sports betting and igaming industries in the major South American markets. “Gaming is continuing to grow in various countries across South America and with each jurisdiction comes new challenges,” he pointed.

n your opinion, how have sports betting and igaming industries evolved in major South American markets during the last two years?
South America is still a largely untapped market. Gaming is continuing to grow in various countries across South America and with each jurisdiction comes new challenges; BWIN recently lost a legal action in Argentina. Governments have started scrutinizing online gaming more closely and if the result is more regulated markets let’s just hope they will do better job than their European colleagues. I think they key point here is that some European countries have quite good regulation (UK, Denmark for example). Some have poor regulation (France for example).

How has Offsidegaming inserted its business proposal in Latin America?
We use the same partnership approach across all markets. Our philosophy is always about finding good partners and building profitable, long term business together. It is always about quality not quantity. We offer bespoke, cost effective sports betting solutions across mobile, internet and now retail. We first entered the market in partnership with Elygra Online S.A. in 2010, since then, we have launched 3 more successful partnerships across various markets in Latin America. Our most recent project is www.inkabet.pe – a licensed Peruvian operator.

How are your products and services performing here?
Our partners are showing good results and growth. We have recently upgraded our sports book and have added more automated feeds such as Betradar. With more than 4,500 “in-running” games per month we expect even better results. We also considering adding more local products into our portfolio and are currently in talks with 24Vivo.com about their Live Casino.

This year you will participate in SAGSE and PowerLatAm. What can you anticipate about each of the shows?
These shows are a great place to meet existing partners and generate new business leads. We had very good experience last year and are delighted to be exhibiting again. We are sponsoring PowerLatAm and showcasing our products and services at SAGSE, this will also include our latest retail and mobile solutions.

What are your plans for the coming months?
We’ve been busy this summer and recently finished huge amounts of technical work to upgrade our platform. There are several exciting projects in progress both, in retail and online. Our 2012/2013 season starts with EIG expo in October and next stop is Buenos Aires.
