Macau Government says no to imported croupiers

(Macau).- Chief executive Fernando Chui Sai On pledged last week that Macau won’t have any imported croupiers as long as he is in-charge of the government. Currently only locals can work as croupiers in Macau’s casinos.

C

hui made the pledge while answering questions from legislators during the second day of his 2012 Policy Address delivery. Chui’s first five-year term will end in 2014 but he can still run for a second consecutive term.

At the end of June, Macau had a total of 20,800 dealers, up by 11.4 percent year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Service.

Chui also said he agreed that small and medium enterprises’ requests for imported labour should be authorised and processed as quickly as possible, but always safeguarding the interests of local workers.

Chui also called on employers to raise employees’ wages in 2012.
