With year-on-year growth of 57 % in August alone

Macau's casinos bring us$ 21 billion in first eight months of 2011

(Macau).- Gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau totalled us$ 21.638 billion in the first eight months of 2011, representing a year-on-year rise of 46.8 %, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

(Macau).- Gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau totalled us$ 21.638 billion in the first eight months of 2011, representing a year-on-year rise of 46.8 %, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

Except for the month of January, in which the year-on-year growth rate was just 33.2 %, in the remaining months the growth rate varied between a minimum of 40.4 % in February and a maximum of 46.8 % in August.

In August alone, the GICB said, revenues from gambling totalled us$ 3 billion, with year-on-year growth of 57 %, which was the highest rate of growth for the year so far.

At the end of June, there were 34 casinos in Macau, 20 of which were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, three by Venetian Macau, five by Galaxy Casino, three by Melco/PBL Jogos (Macau) and one each by Wynn Resorts and MGM Grand Paradise.
