nder the extension agreement, GTECH will provide a variety of new lottery technology, as well as ongoing lottery-related services and comprehensive marketing consultancy and support. The firm anticipates receiving revenues of approximately €70 million over the contract’s extension period.

Patel. “To that end, we are fully engaged with our partner, TIPOS, to assist them in applying industry-wide lottery best practices. We will continue to work closely with TIPOS in the coming years to provide added convenience for their players and retailers through additional self-service lottery products and evolving technology that includes further enhancement of their lottery system, terminal offering, and communications network.”
Under the terms of the contract extension, GTECH will replace TIPOS’ existing central system with GTECH’s Enterprise Series (ES) Evolution™ central system hardware, which is specifically tailored to offer a best-practices technology approach to support TIPOS with the flexible tools needed to increase their sales and revenue. ES Evolution will also provide a means of upgrading TIPOS’ current hardware and software, while maintaining the existing application software and data, preserving their business plan. GTECH will also replace a portion of the existing terminal base with 1,750 Altura® GT1200 terminals and upgrade TIPOS’ existing communications network with an IP-satellite communications network.
The Company will expand the TIPOS’ self-service network through an additional 250 Ticket-Scan™ ticket-checker units and introduce Instant Showcase®, a clerk-operated, 20-game (20-bin) instant-ticket dispensing device right at the retail checkout counter.
GTECH will continue to provide ongoing services to TIPOS including central system/terminals installation and maintenance; telecommunications services; hotline management; retailer training; data center operations; and non-lottery services such as prepaid mobile phone top-ups and event ticketing for sports and cultural events.
GTECH will also provide TIPOS with a full range of marketing consultancy services including game portfolio development; marketing programs to drive same store sales growth; provision of data analytics and market research support; and retailer network development programs.
GTECH has provided online and instant ticket equipment and services to TIPOS since 1993. Proceeds from TIPOS are transferred to the State’s General Fund and support a variety of good causes, including education and sports.
