Spain: Despite the privatization of the 30%, Loterías del Estado will continue being public

(Spain).- Loterías y Apuestas del Estado will continue being public, despite the privatization of the 30 % approved by the government as "liberalizing measure" to bring “more flexibility, agility and business orientation" to this activity, which is "one of the oldest in Spain" and emerged in 1763, according to the Deputy Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economy, Elena Salgado.

Probably the privatization will be performed in two stages, has added Salgado, after assessing the “perfect” performance of the approximately 4,000 administrators of Lottery currently existing, on which she said that "they will keep absolutely all the conditions they have at the moment”

According to the official reference, the reorganization of the entity will suppose the creation of an independent regulator, which will will ascribe to the Ministry of Economy and Finances until the future National Gaming Commission is constituted, and, at the same time, it establishes the State Society of Lotteries and Bets as independent operator of the regulator.
