Stanley Ho passes managing director post in SJM to his wife Angela Leong

(Macau).- Stanley Ho Hung Sun has passed his managing director position in gaming concessionaire Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) to his fourth wife, Angela Leong On Kei. The appointment has already been approved by the board of directors and authorised by the Macau government, as required by Gaming Industry Regulatory Framework Law.

M

s Leong told Macau Post Daily that her appointment was a “normal procedure” due to Mr Ho’s long recovery process from a head injury suffered in mid-2009. “It’s inconvenient for him to frequently travel to Macau and handle company matters,” she said. “That is why I was appointed.”

According to her, the appointment was formalised recently. “SJM is a local company, so I will do my best to help the company maintain its leading position in the industry.” Ms Leong was already one of the company’s directors. She is also a Macau legislator.

Earlier this month, Mr Ho transferred 7 % of SJM Holdings stake to Ms Leong. After the operation, he remained the company’s biggest shareholder, with a 56.34 % stake, while Ms Leong increased her participation to 7.69 %. SJM Holdings Limited is the holding company of SJM, one of the six local gaming concessionaires.
