Interview to Courtney Muller, Senior VP at Reed Exhibitions

“G2E’s 10th anniversary is a great milestone. We are all proud of delivering a quality event year after year”

(US, exclusive Courtney Muller, Senior VP at Reed Exhibitions, talked with Yogonet after G2E 2010 event, and commented about the performance of this year’s show, the innovations presented and the feedback from visitors. She also talked about the changes for 2011 edition and left the door open for a possible G2E event in Europe.

2E celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. What does this important milestone represent for Reed, AGA and the whole show's organization?
G2E’s 10th anniversary is a great milestone and we are all proud of delivering a quality event year after year. G2E has grown into the industry’s leading event and is the place for the entire gaming community to get together to see cutting edge technology, enjoy tremendous networking opportunities and unmatched educational programming.  Reed, the AGA and AGEM will continue to work hard to deliver for the industry over the next 10 years!

How did you finally see the show? Was it in line with your expectations?
G2E 2010 exceeded our expectations because our customers, the exhibitors, the conferees and the attendees, were overall happy with the quality event we delivered.  At the end of the day if our customers are happy then we’re happy!

The show is always a big platform for companies to release new products and systems. Which are the ones you consider were the most innovative technologies or developments introduced?
As a show organizer, it is hard for us to say which one of our exhibitors has the most innovative product.  What we can say is that G2E has always been and always will be the platform for companies to introduce the latest and greatest products and innovations for the casino industry. Casino operators know that G2E is the place to come to for solutions and this year was no exception. The innovation seen on the show floor this year was astounding and the games and technologies are evolving faster than ever.

Which was the response you received from both exhibitors and visitors of the show?
Overall, the feedback from both our exhibitors and attendees was very positive.  The feel and energy of the show was so much stronger than last year and we heard from our exhibitors that operators were once again at the show to buy.

The show will move to new dates and venue next year. What can we expect after this changes for 2011 edition?
We’re very excited about the move to the Sands and the new date pattern.  We’ve received extremely positive feedback from both exhibitors and attendees around the new dates and expect to see even more energy at next years event.  Because the show is earlier we will be moving our opening Welcome Reception back to a poolside again which will be fun!  The new show dates will provide more opportunity for buying and for follow up after the show prior to the holidays.

The show will have a different feel at the Sands as it will be located on the Strip and will be more convenient for our local visitors as well as those staying on Strip properties during their visit to G2E.  Change can be a challenge but can also be exciting and we hope everyone will join us next year to see the new floor and experience G2E in its second decade!

Finally, there’s been some rumours about a possible G2E event in Europe in the future. What can you tell us about this possibility?
You never know what the future will bring.
