MP administers and operates lottery games in Malaysia, and has the option to extend the contract beyond the 10-year base in three-year periods triennially. The new system is expected to go live in August 2011.
“We are pleased to have this opportunity to supply a comprehensive range of lottery solutions and services to our newest customer, Pan Malaysian Pools,” said Gtech President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “This new partnership in Malaysia is strategically important for Gtech as we look to further expand our footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Under the new contract, Gtech will replace PMP’s existing lottery central system with its Enterprise Series (ES) solution and the existing terminal base with 1,600 Altura GT604 lottery terminals. Gtech’s ES solution and Altura open systems architecture will allow PMP to easily integrate new technologies in the future. The firm will also provide PMP with ongoing software support, as well as hotline and operational support services over the duration of the contract.
