Italy presented the Regulation bill for the application of online gaming taxes

(Italy).- The European Commission has received a regulation bill presented by Italy to determine the gross tax base that will set taxes to apply to games of chance of Fixed Quote Price and cards, both in a remote modality, complying this way with the mandatory period of public information imposed by Guideline 98/34/CE.

he European Commission establishes the obligation of the member states of nofitying the Commission, and all the rest of the states, all the projects of technical regulations related to products and services of the Information Society before being adopted in the national legal ordinance. This procedure has the aim to bring transparency and control with regards to such regulations. Due to the fact that they could create unjustified obstacles among the member states, its notification as a project and the evaluation of its content during the procedure help reduce this risk.

The project notified illustrates the new modalities of calculation of the sole tax that will be applied, not to the quantities gambled, as it happens with the games of skill, but to the quantities that are not returned to players as winnings. The information deadline concludes next October 7.
