(Isle of Man).- Council of Ministers discussions have concluded that it should be available to issue a casino license if a benefit can be demonstrated. Economic Development Minister Allan Bell MHK said: “It is our intention to look at every opportunity to grow our economy.”

“The subject of the issuance of a second casino licence is part of that work. 'Whilst such a situation may not currently exist, the economic criteria against which proposals may be judged are being prepared by the Department of Economic Development.”

When the criteria have been confirmed, the department will invite companies to discuss proposals. Bell added: “Any proposal must set out how the granting of a second casino licence will provide additional business and not simply draw revenues away from the existing licence holder.” He expects expressions of interest to be sought in the autumn.
