irsa assures that its efficiency, productivity and the selective growth of its business had managed to achieve, for the fouth year in a row, a good level of results, in scenario of worldwide economic crisis. The incomes of the casino division have increased a 17% thanks, mainly, to the positive performance of Latin American casinos.
The installation of new slots and the organization of poker tournaments in all this region have been two of the factors that made possible the growth in such division. The crisis neigher prevented Cirsa, with its venue in Terrassa (Barcelona), from keeping a share market of 52% in the sale of machines to the hostelling channel, exceeding the 36,000 annual units.
In Spain, the collection of slots installed in bars and restaurants has suffered, however, a light decrease in the last year, that has been offset with the restraint in the pack of costs and with a renovation plan of almost 8,000 devices.
In the bingo division it remarks the 16% decrease of the sale of cardboards in Spain, that has been partially offset with the increment of income from machines in a 19%. In the following months, Cirsa expects to develop a series of projects in Spain, Italy and Latin America.
In Italy, for example, will implement the new video-lottery business, installing more than 2,500 slots, that will be part of the new offer in bingo halls, betting houses and gambling venues, and in July it plans to inaugurate the 4,000 sqm Casino de Valencia.
In a “difficult and complex” economic scenario, Cirsa expects to achieve its goals for 2010 "by an organic growth in business in the countries in which it operates, an increment of its efficiency and productivity and the conclusion of the projects planned.”
Cirsa Gaming Corporation is one of the worldwide leaders in the gaming and leisure activity and is part of Nortia Corporation, comprised by 372 companies and with more than 16,000 employees.
