After the signing of sale agreement, Jose Gonzalez Fuentes became the president of the Casino La Toja. The ex-president, Manuel Lao Gorina will be vice-president. Alfredo Gonzalez Fuentes, another owner of Egasa, joined the board of directors.
The new president stated that "the transaction has received prior authorization from the regional government (it is an administrative concession), and henceforth, the company is going to do different projects to promote the establishment".
The amount of the transaction in not known. Egasa, one of the largest Galician gaming groups, had a turnover of 196.7 million Euros in 2008, 5.1% more than the total amount of previous year (187.1 million Euros). The company has around 1,400 employees.
Casino La Toja, which opened in 1978, isn’t the first casino business for Egasa. It has a stake in the casinos of Mallorca and Bilbao. The group also obtained licenses to operate in Chile and Croatia.
"Today, we are immersed in the ambitious expansion plan, whose first stage will finish at the end of 2012," said the president. “Then, we will open between six and ten casinos in Central and Latin America," he explained. Egasa has more than 60 arcades in Spain.
