Las Vegas Sands eyes Miami market

(US).- The casino operator told the Miami Herald that it's interested in building resorts in the tourist destination. The move is reportedly being backed by Ft. Lauderdale Legislator Ellyn Bogdanoff, who has been a long opponent of expanding gambling in Florida.

ands CEO Sheldon Adelson has hired a Tallahassee lobbyist and contributed to Florida campaigns, to push for a possible us$ 3 billion resort casino, according to the paper.

Las Vegas Sands has been predominantly focused on its expansion in Macau and Singapore, as gaming in the United States took a downturn amid the recession.

The casino operator plans to open the doors to its first casino in Singapore in May.
