For the firm’s business-to-consumer segment, total operating income for the third quarter decreased 15 % year-on-year to us$ 48 million while remaining static compared to the previous three-month period. In addition, the total operating income from its business-to-consumer casino operation fell 16 % year-on-year to us$ 29 million and remained flat in relation to the second quarter of 2009.
Total operating income from 888’s business-to-consumer poker operation decreased 28 % year-on-year to twelve million dollars and was one million dollars less than the previous quarter.
On the plus side, the total operating income from the firm’s business-to-consumer emerging offering operation increased 44 % year-on-year to six million dollars despite falling 5 % from the second quarter of 2009 due to ‘unfavourable sport trading results in August’.
888 reported 169,000 active casino and poker customers for the third quarter, which was a seasonal decrease of 6 % compared to the second quarter of 2009. There were 62,000 active casino customers alongside 134,000 for poker with both figures representing a drop of 6 % from the previous three-month period. “We are pleased with the results achieved during the third quarter,” said Gigi Levy, CEO for 888.
