Betfair boasts over 2.5 million customers and the NYRA revealed that the deal would help it to grow its international simulcast market, although the London-based firm does not allow US-based customers.

“We are thrilled to offer the best year-round racing in the United States to the world’s leading online wagering company,” said Charlie Hayward, President for the NYRA. “Betfair is a cutting-edge organisation and we look forward to an expansive relationship with them.”

Betfair’s acquired the Television Games Network in January and has been increasing its US exposure by broadcasting NYRA races. “We are delighted to link up with the NYRA, bringing new overseas money into their pools via our worldwide customer base of over 2.5 million and, crucially, giving a new revenue stream to US racetracks and, of course, increased US betting opportunities to our customers,” said Steven Johnson, Head Of Horse Racing Development for Betfair.
