Cartamundi’s Mexican filial opened new facilities in DF

(Mexico).- The company Cartamundi of Mexico opened an industrial complex in Mexico City, aiming to cover more markets through the opening of new lines of business, and which will allow it to expand its labor plant in a 25%. The firm grew a 48 % from 2008 to 2009 and will incursion in licensed products and collectable cards.

n top of traditional cards, in the new factory, located in the delegation of Granjas México in Iztacalco, they will manufacture domino games, products with licenses from Disney-Pixar, cards, dies, chips, shakers and backgammons, pointed the company in a press release.

Authorized products also include Star Wars, James Bond and FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010. Cartamundi of Mexico currently has 100 direct employees and hundreds of indirect employees including providers and distributors.

The opening of a new 2,800 sqm factory, which is three-times bigger than the previous complex, and is result of the expansion plans of the company, which achieved a sustained growth of 48% from 2008 until 2009.

"The investment of more than one million dollars that we made in the last two years led us to move to a bigger place, which will allow us to optimize the production of cards and expand the collection of products for the entertainment market,” said the general director of the company,” José Manuel Skorlich.

It is estimated that the market of cards in Mexico worths approximately U$S 6,836,911, of which Cartamundi has a 47% in the manufacturing of card games and 95% in the sale of advertising cards.

With the new business lines, the company expects to increase its market in a 28% in 2010, and another 10% in 2011 and 2012, respectively, which will represent an accumulated growth of 100% in a four-year period.

Nowadays, the company has a production capacity of 5 million decks a year (each one with 52 cards), with monthly sales of more than 500,000 card games, of which the 18% of the production is adressed to the export of cards to the US.
