SEGA enters online gambling arena

(UK).- SEGAGames has been awarded a full interactive online gambling licence by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, paving the way for the launch of SEGA branded online poker and casino sites powered by Playtech.

eveloped and powered by AIM-listed gaming software developer Playtech Limited, players will have access to both and through SEGA's proprietary single wallet platform SEGAPass.

Players are likely to benefit from a host of branded games developed by SEGA, including the likes of SEGA mascot Sonic the HedgeHog, Virtua Fighter and House of the Dead.
"That SEGA Games chose to base their new venture with us in Alderney is something we are immensely proud about," said Robin Le Prevost, Head of eCommerce Development for Alderney. "In our minds it vindicates the high quality of our regulation which is recognised the world over and has seen substantial investment from companies of high standing like SEGA over the last few years.

"Our fiscal strategies, bilateral agreements with other countries, our technical infrastructure and regulations have created a perfect support base from which to operate from. Here in Alderney we are witnessing a huge upsurge in interest across the globe."

A SEGAGames spokesman added: "The Alderney Gambling Control Commission provides the most comprehensive gaming regulations with the strictest requirements and as such is recognizes as the most reputable online gaming jurisdiction.
