T&T is providing services to support MEI’s efforts to streamline operations throughout its global telecommunications network and keep its mobile workforce connected. The 24/7 nature of MEI’s worldwide business demands an always-on network that can be utilized by MEI’s international facilities in order to support more than two billion transactions per week globally.
MEI tapped AT&T to fully manage its global network, with the goal of facilitating consistent functionality and reliable connectivity between MEI’s headquarters in West Chester, U.S. distribution centers and other operations in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia and China.
MEI also needed to ensure that its mobile workforce could stay connected and communicate with colleagues and customers anywhere and at anytime. Using AT&T’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, MEI’s mobile employees will have the opportunity to remotely access e-mail and other critical enterprise applications as needed. AT&T Web Security services will also help protect MEI’s Web traffic from security threats, and AT&T Network-Based Firewalls will manage employee access to the Internet from office or remote locations and prevent unauthorized access into corporate networks.

AT&T continues to serve as SAP hosting provider for MEI, which recently signed on for AT&T Application Management Services that will provide functional and technical support to facilitate efficient operations of MEI’s hosted enterprise applications.
Under the AT&T relationship, MEI also expects to replace more traditional platforms such as premises-based e-mail security and firewall solutions with AT&T Network-based services in fourth quarter 2009.
