A 6% more than in the same period last year

Cirsa obtained an operational benefit of 102 million euros in the first semestre of the year

(Spain).- The entertainment and gaming group Cirsa obtained an operational benefit (ebitda) of 102 million euros during the first semestre, a 6% more than the same period in 2008, and an income of 815 million, compared to 862 million euros a year earlier.

ccording to a press release from Cirsa, these results are consequence of the geographic diversification of the business, a strict tracking of the expenses, the optimization of the processes and a rigurous selection of investments. The casino division in Panama, Argentina and Venezuela, together with the expansion of the business in Panama and Colombia, has contributed to increase the income in a 54%.

According to the company, Mexico has increased its incomes due to the new opening of bingo halls and the improvement of collection in machines, that have offset the additional negative impact caused by A flu.

On the betting business in Madrid Community, Sportium currently has 75 venues and expects to reach this year 100 points of sale. In the first week of October, it will be inaugurated a complex in Rosario (Argentina), of 126,000 sqm, that will host the biggest casino in Latin America, and the new casino in Valencia will be opened in the second semester.
