The government will explore ways to make the system fairer between British and overseas businesses

Freeze on White List as DCMS reviews egaming regulation

(UK).- The UK Government has decided not to grant White List status to any new applicants until the start of next year, it has emerged. The decision has been made as the government undertakes a review of the legislation around the UK Gambling Act.

S

ports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe announced in April that overseas-based gambling operators who advertise in the UK may face new requirements.

In response to technological advances in online gaming and changes to international regulations, the government will explore ways to make the system fairer between British and overseas businesses.

A report filed by Gambling Compliance highlighted that the UK Government has come under further pressure to re-examine its policy on offshore white-listed betting and gaming jurisdictions after the Horserace Betting Levy Board said that it would like to see the issue of the horseracing levy tied to the ability to advertise in the UK.
