Jiménez resigned to his position 47 days after having announced his temporary dismissal, in order to be investigated due to the report of Diario de Yucatán, whose directors accused him of having tried to acquire spaces in favor of PAN in Campeche, mainly of the candidate to the provincial government Mario Ávila, with Lotenal resources.
However, in April 23th, El Universal published that the officer was still in his offices, in charge of administrative and organizational issues, which then caused reports from the employees themselves.
Jiménez decided to present his resignation on Monday to president Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, who named him in January. “I present my resignation in order to contribute with the fact that investigations performed are developed with absolute expeditiously and transparency, and to be totally free to face my legal defense.
“I want to clarify that this resignation has to do with my full conviction that facts have to be totally clarified, but it does not involve the acceptance of any of the accusations that have been done against me,” said Jiménez in a press release.
The SFP release considered that the permanence in the position of the general director of the National Lottery neither obstructs nor hinder the corresponding statements.
