As the regulatory framework and focus in the UK gaming industry has changed

GuocoLeisure Limited announces withdrawal of casino licence applications

(UK).- GuocoLeisure Limited provided an update on developments associated with the former BIL Gaming Operations UK, a wholly-owned subsidiary and licensed casino operator in the UK now named Clermont Leisure (UK) Limited.

T

he company had previously announced 16 proposed casino licence applications on 6 February 2006. CLUK then applied for 30 casino licenses all over the UK under the Gaming Act 1968 and has been granted 4 to date.

These licences were granted under the previous Gaming Act 1968 and continued as "converted casino premises licenses" under the new Gambling Act 2005 that came into force on 1 September 2007.

CLUK further stated that all the other applications and appeals under the previous licensing regime has been withdrawn, as the regulatory framework and focus in the UK's gaming industry has changed with the Gambling Act 2005.

The company continues to own and manage the Clermont Club, a casino in Mayfair, London and is monitoring future licensing opportunities in the UK.
