The venues could be reopened as early as this week

Swine flu causes Mexico bingo halls to close

(Mexico).- Last Friday, MultiMedia Games said a majority of its Mexico operations have temporarily shut down due to the H1N1 virus, or Swine Flu, outbreak. The Texas-based company said the venues will reopen "as soon as it is deemed safe," which could be as early as this week.

The impact to our revenues from the closing of these venues is still to be determined and will depend in part on the dates of the reopening of the facilities and in the play levels thereafter as the public begins to get back to normal routines," said Anthony Sanfilippo, MultiMedia’s president and chief executive, in a prepared statement.

Todd Eilers, an analyst with Roth Capital Partners, wrote that he was not surprised about the bingo halls short-term closure.

"While the venues are expected to reopen soon, we suspect play levels will likely be impacted in the near term," he said in a Monday note.
