Total arrivals in the Chinese casino city rose to 2.53 million in November from 2.46 million in same period last year, the government Statistics and Census Service said on its Web site.
The growth rate compared to 8 percent in October, 2.1 percent in September and 8.5 percent in August. Arrivals were up 26 percent in November 2007 compared to the 2006 period.
Macau, the only place in China were casinos are legal, has seen its gambling industry cool recently after years of booming growth since Beijing began curbing the frequency and duration of travel here by mainland residents. The global financial and economic crisis also has taken a toll.
Arrivals by mainland Chinese, who account for the majority of tourists, climbed 4.2 percent to 1.46 million.
