John Connelly, Bally Technologies Vice President International

"This has been one of the busiest shows ever"

(Exclusive Yogonet.com from US).- John Connelly, Bally Technologies Vice President International, granted an interview to Yogonet.com from the firm’s booth at recent G2E event, where the firm presented several new products. He commented on the performance of the company and the situation of the firm, as well as the impact that the global economic crisis would have on the gaming industry.

W

hat at are you showing here in G2E?

We are launching several products at G2E show, as we always do in an annual basis. This year we are excited to launch a multi-game stepper product, which was shown in first place in G2E. We had the ability to choose up to three stepper products on the same cabinet. It is the first time it has ever been done, we are very excited about that, and secondly, we are in an innovation step point, what is called the Dual Vision. It is a product where two players sit at the same seat, it is a larger seat, it is a 32 inch horizontal screen where both players interact on the same game at the same time. This product line is going to have an extreme success over the next 12 to 24 months because it allows both of the players to compete against each other. It allows more interaction and creates an atmosphere around the products as it hasn’t been seen before.

Obviously, with over 200 machines on the stand, we continue showing our gaming operations with this Vision and Stepper products, so we are very excited, the feedbacks are very positive so far.

How was the show?

You know, I have to say that we were expecting obviously some type of an impact due to the global economic conditions and, quite the contrary, this has been one of the busiest shows ever. From when the show opens up to when it closes, we didn’t stop. I believe we have probably had one of the busiest booths in the entire congress, and then, of course, in Thursday, it always tends to slow down a little bit, but we couldn’t be happier with the feedback and the turnout.

What is your opinion about the global crisis and the impact on the gaming market for next year?

That’s a great question. Obviously you’d be foolish to think there wouldn’t be some type of an impact going into 2009. That being said, I think Bally is in a unique position because of the process we’ve been undergoing for the past three years of expanding our global international operations, in addition to expanding our gaming operation business. There are several markets, internationally and domestically, which are still growing and are still very profitable. Due to the percentage that Bally has on those floors, within those markets, there are still tremendous options for Bally to grow for the number of products we have and their performance. So taking into consideration, when you evaluate the global market today, if you calculate where you spend your money and your resources, there are several opportunities to grow your business in a healthy fashion despite the economic conditions.
