Caribbean gambling sites allowed to advertise in UK

(UK / Antigua).- The British government will allow Internet gambling sites in Antigua and Barbuda to advertise in the United Kingdom after the Caribbean country strengthened its regulation of the industry.

U

K Department of Media, Culture and Sport has officially recognized that the online casino industry in Antigua and Barbuda is sufficiently regulated and safe, and approved its application for whitelisting.

Antiguan Minister of Finance and the Economy L. Errol Cort said in a statement on Monday: “We look forward to the expansion opportunities that this provides for our current licensees and to welcoming other ... remote gambling brands to (our) jurisdiction.”

Besides, the British Minister of Sport said in a statement that he was “content that Antigua and Barbuda has the legal authority to regulate gambling and that its current system of regulation and licensing provides a robust and adequately resourced framework to uphold our shared objectives: to prevent gambling from becoming a source of crime; and to keep gambling fair and open and to protect children and vulnerable people.”

The sites will be allowed to advertise in the UK from November 20, the government said.
