UK gambling firms bracing for budget tax changes

(UK).- Having lobbied government intensely for years over so-called double taxation on bingo revenues, the British industry is desperately hoping the Chancellor Alastair Darling will remove VAT on revenues. They currently pay 15 percent gross profits tax.

aving seen the UK’s casinos battered by last year’s budget analysts, UK bingo companies expect an easier ride for gambling firm’s this time around. Analysts say bingo firms may have to wait a little longer however to see an announcement to change the rules.

Removal of the VAT on bingo revenues involves both VAT (17.5 percent) and Gross Profits Tax (15 percent) being applied to bingo revenues.
