The report also predicts a 53% increase in the number of people betting online in Spain compared to 2007. According to AEDAPI, the Spanish online betting market grew by 57% last year to 650 million euros and that growth is expected to accelerate as online gaming's popularity continues to grow.
AEDAPI says that football accounted for 65% of all bets placed during 2007 in Spain, with tennis and Formula 1 accounting for the majority of the remainder.
AEDAPI is a private association created in 2006 with the stated aim of promoting regulation and transparency in the online gaming industry in Spain. The data in its report has been collected from the 12 main online gaming companies operating in Spain under an EU license.
