At stand 3410

Viridian takes centre stage in Aristocrat's ICE 08 green revelation

(UK).-Aristocrat's Viridian cabinet, which was well received by a US audience at the recent Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, will be unveiled for the first time in Europe at London's ICE show this week.

illed as the “essence of modern gaming technology”, the Viridian combines ‘green' credentials with a raft of significant operator benefits encompassing efficient design such as a smaller footprint and ergonomic player interface together with enhanced serviceability features.

The Viridian is set to be the star attraction on the Aristocrat Technologies stand (3410) where the ‘total gaming solutions' provider will be demonstrating close to 80 Aristocrat models, most of which will be making their European debuts, alongside the company's Casino Management System 7000 and new innovations from ACE Interactive and PokerPro.

European Sales Director, Marcus Honney believes that the company's new range of products for 2008 represents the most vibrant and exciting offering from Aristocrat in recent years. He explained: “Viridian and Gen7 form the cornerstone of the company's innovative new approach to 21st Century gaming. The ‘green' Viridian cabinet, with its host of operator and player benefits, is the essence of modern gaming technology: smart, stylish and designed to perform. The Gen7 platform drives the power behind the performance, allowing Aristocrat to develop new and ever more exciting games whilst providing a perfect host for ongoing developments in Downloadable and Server Based Gaming.”

The physical aspects of Viridian include: a footprint that's slimmer compared to other cabinets; a high resolution LCD touch screen to support enhanced graphics; an ergonomic mid trim featuring six patented tri-lobe buttons to support Aristocrat's Universal Player Interface (UPI), as well as supporting a range of bill acceptors, printers and PMM's; high quality speakers to support Gen7's enhanced sound effects; an LCD top box supporting advanced functionality including dynamic pay tables; topper art with LED edge lighting; wrap around belly art panels to facilitate easy game recognition; and lateral edge lighting.

Operators will benefit from lower running costs through Viridian's efficient use of lighting and electrical consumption, in addition to lower heat emissions. Keys and meters are ergonomically angled for better accessibility and ease of service whilst opening panels and split doors are optimized with ‘slam shut' lock mechanisms to enable maintenance with minimum fuss and maximum security levels. A ‘smart access' design also allows for faster game conversion.

Aristocrat's new Gen7 platform, powered by the latest Intel processor, is described by the company as a ‘technology pathway'. As well as hosting new native software featuring high resolution graphics and enhanced sounds, the powerful games engine is able run recent Mark VI games under the new touch screen UPI as well as a selection of emulated earlier games.

Flexible connectivity, dual screen functionality, smart card security and compact flash content distribution combine with myriad hardware enhancements to deliver more processing power, driving richer game content and enhanced player experience. Gen7's in-built networking capabilities also allow Viridian to feature Downloadable and Server Based Gaming, permutations of which will be demonstrated on-stand at ICE by ACE Interactive.

Marcus Honney continued: “Of course there's little value in developing new hardware unless the software is equally strong. Aristocrat certainly meets that challenge with some of the best performing games in the business. Right across the product mix - from Hyperlink and Multilink through XTreme Mystery and Xcite, Standalone Progressive and Double Standalone Progressive, Reel Power and Super Reel Power, Power Pay™, 50 Line, 100 Line and Multi Line games - we continue to expand our portfolio so that players can play their favourite games in their preferred style.”

Key ICE revelations in the new Viridian livery include Money Train Multilink, a progression of Aristocrat's popular Cash Express with exciting new 3-D top sign and Thunderheart Hyperlink. Geisha and Double Happiness also make their European debuts in Viridian format alongside other low denomination games in both standard and Universal Player Interface mode.

Other firsts for Aristocrat at this year's London Show include: the new XTreme theme, Island Delight; Mr Woo, a new Double Standalone Progressive on the company's Xcite platform; further Xcite additions in Buffalo, Sharman's Magic, Luigi's Ball, Wild Teepee, 100 Lions and Miss Kitty; a series of Hyperlink, Slants, Series 3 and LPM rebuilds for Aristocrat's South Africa region; and a range of machines specifically designed for individual European jurisdictions.

Honney concluded: “Whilst much of our focus lies on developing new games and systems, our portfolio retains a great variety of games tailored to meet the legislative, economic and cultural requirements of jurisdictions across Europe. We place great emphasis on working closely with customers and we look forward to meeting their individual needs at ICE, throughout 2008 and beyond.”
