Games of Chance Tax Law approved in Venezuela

(Venezuela).- Venezuelan Congress has recently approved the Games of chance law that obliges lotteries, bingo halls and casinos to pay taxes to the state due to their activities.

According to the recently passed norm, lotteries will have to pay between 15 to 20% of their gross revenues to the state. Besides, the fee for bingo halls and casinos is established between 120 and 300 tax units.

Deputy Hiroshima Bravo remarked that the Parliament was working in the law for more than a year. He pointed that the legal instrument will contribuye to the public tax, establishing that those who have more tax capacity, will have to pay more.

He added that these taxes will increase the tax collection and contribute to the tax reduction policy of the VAT.

The deputy asked the sector that integrates the games of chance sector to comply with the tax law and the regulations that rule this operation. The new law will come into force once it is published in the Official Newspaper.
