"All related warrants issued by the Louisiana State Police have been cancelled with immediate effect," said the group. The statement added that both Sportingbet and the St Landry District Attorney now consider the matter closed. The firm reiterated the cessation of all US-facing business.

Last September, the Louisiana State Police had put out a warrant for Peter Dicks, the then Sportingbet chairman, on charges of "gambling by computer." Dicks, who resigned as chairman days after he was arrested, was set free by US authorities later in that month.

The company has since sold the once-lucrative US business to Antigua-based Jazette Enterprises Ltd. in a move it estimated would cost it us$ 393 million. Sportingbet shares rose 5.2 percent, to us$ 1.29, on the London Stock Exchange.
